- As a child Andrew was very close to his cousin, Matt Garetty, but Matt eventually succumbed to peer pressure and cut ties with Andrew.
- His family is extremely poor because his father is a firefighter who has retired early due to injury.
- The only person that shows any affection to Andrew is his mother, Karen, who is bedridden with stage IV cancer.
- When he buys a camera to document all of his problems, everyone starts bullying him even more.
- At a party, he documents with his camera a couple of girls and the angry boyfriend of one of the girls attacks him and beats him.
- After Andrew, Matt and Steve gain superpowers, Andrew uses his power to move a truck a bit but accidentally knocks it off-road. This causes his friendship with matt and Steve to become strained.
- Andrew save Steve from a plain which shows that he cares about his friends.
- Eventually Andrew becomes popular but this doesn't last long. When a girl named Monica makes a sexual proposition to him, Andrew, who was drunk, ended up vomiting during the act which caused he loathe himself again and distance himself from everyone.
- Because of his emotions, Andrew accidentally kills Steve. Later, he goes to his grave and breaks down in tears which shows that he feels remorse.
- His mother dies and his abusive father unfairly blames him for her death.
- While in the ends he doesn't care about morality and tries to kill a lot of innocent people, it's understandable considering all the tragedies he had to experience. His cousin, Matt, refuses to believe that Andrew was ever a bad person and promises to help people like him from now on.
