Megan Welles is the main antagonist of the 2013 film Time of Death. She is a former Army Ranger and the younger sister of Sharon Welles who seeks revenge on the four boys who sexually assaulted and murdered Sharon.
She was played by Sarah Power.
What makes her sympathetic?[]
- At the age of 10 she witnessed her older sister Sharon get sexually assaulted by a quartet of teenage boys (Miles Hayden, Nathan Loring, Vincent Delucas, and Perry Collins) who later tossed Sharon over the cliff to her death.
- She was distraught and angered over the quartet avoiding any charges due to the influence of Nathan's father, Robert Loring, the CEO of Loring Industries.
- During her adulthood, she still maintained her memory of Sharon's murder and plots a murderous revenge on everyone involved in it.
- When FBI agent Jordan Price and rookie detective Elliot Larken first encounter Megan, she mentions her sister's death and thanks the pair for being on the case after 20 years.
- After successfully murdering Robert, Nathan, and Vincent and when she tries to do the same to Miles and gets confronted by Jordan and Elliot, she voices her guilt over not coming forward and intervening back when she was a kid.
- When she was found out by Jordan and Elliot to be the killer of Robert, Nathan and Vincent, she contacted the pair and told them about witnessing her sister being assaulted and killed, while adding that she needed to finish what she had started.
- Her desire for revenge against her sister's killers is somewhat understandable, as she was only 10 years old when she witnessed Sharon getting murdered and the culprits managed to avoid any sort of charges.
- Overall, despite murdering Robert, Nathan, Vincent and later trying to do the same to Miles, she is portrayed as a tragic vigilante who simply wants justice for her sister's death and feels guilty over not having intervened on the spot as a child.
